Abduction of Europa
Adriana Świerszczek was born in Poland in 1973 and now lives and works in London. She studied at the European Academy of Art, Warsaw and migrated to England in 1995, to study for her MA and MFA at the Slade School of Art. Becoming a British citizen in 2006, she currently teaches at Putney School of Art. Although not Jewish, Adriana has a complicated and tragic family history in Poland, with close relatives living through the German invasion and Soviet occupation. An aunt was imprisoned in Arholzen labour camp, and two other young family members - 17 and 18 years old - perished in Auschwitz. She has exhibited in London, Warsaw and California including participating in Arts Unwrapped at the ACAVA studios in 2008.
