Artist Raphael Pepper was born into a Jewish family in Essex, England in 1979 and studied fine art at Camberwell School of Art (now Camberwell College of Arts, University of London). His work was included in Ben Uri’s ‘Director’s Choice’ exhibition in 2003. The following year Pepper had his first solo exhibition at Loughton Library in Essex and his work was also included in the Tram Studios Exhibition of the International Jewish Artist of the Year Award organised by Ben Uri Gallery and The Hebrew University, and in the exhibition The Modern and the New the same year; as well as in the exhibition of Recent Acquisitions 2001-2006. His 2012 drawing of London’s newly built Olympic Stadium earned him a commemorative certificate from the International Olympic Committee. Pepper’s work is in the collections of the Guildhall Art Gallery, the Southwark Collection, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. He lives and works in London.
