Artist Laura Jacobs was born in England in 1963. She initially trained as a theatre designer, working with the Royal Opera House and the Gate Theatre, among others, before studying for a degree in fine art at Central St Martins, followed by a PCGE in Art and Design from Goldsmiths College. She held her first solo exhibition at Ben Uri in 2006. While Jacobs was on a three-year intensive painting course at the Studio School in New York, one of her paintings was selected to exhibit at the Royal College of Art as part of the BBC2 programme ‘Show Me the Monet’. She continues to teach classes on mask-making and puppetry in the UK and abroad. Her work can be found in private collections in the UK, the USA and The Netherlands. She currently lives and works in London.
