Painter Meyer (also spelled Mayer or Myer) Klang was born into a Jewish family in Germany in 1880. Little is known of his early life including the year of his immigration to England and his training as a painter, however, he was based in London's Jewish quarter in the East End and produced portraits and still lifes. He was a member of the Arts Committee of The Jewish Association of Arts and Sciences (J.A.A.S.), based in the East End, as depicted in Adrian Wolfe’s 1917 cartoon, which shows (left to right): Rebekoff, Adrian Wolfe, Meyer Klang, Isaac Snowman, Alfred Wolmark and Morris Goldstein. Klang participated frequently in mixed exhibitions at Ben Uri (1934, 1935, 1936, 1937, 1943, 1944 and 1951) and at the Royal Society of British Arts, the Royal Academy and the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. He died in London in 1948.
