Painter, architect and teacher Rondas was born in Belgium in 1907, studying singing and training as an architect, he later took up painting studying at L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and the Slade School of Fine Art, London. In Paris he worked with Dufy, also studying restoration at the Louvre and assisting the stage designer Christian Berard. He served in the Belgian army in the Second World War before being evacuated at Dunkirk and serving in the British Army. He taught in art schools in England in Croydon and Nottingham, designed for the textile firm Jacqmar and painted a mural in Johannesburg Post Office Tower restaurant. He worked in both a realist and Surrealist style, exhibiting in both Europe and the USA. He died in Brussels in 1975.
